I'm Yvette Nolin, founder of Nolin Designs, specializing in distinctive swimming pool and outdoor living design. Since beginning my career in the swimming pool industry in 2016, I've developed a design philosophy centered on creativity, architectural detail, and the belief that every element of a space should have a purpose.

My background combines years of swimming pool design experience with studies in architecture, technical drafting, landscape design, and material design. My college education in Texas included architectural drafting, computer graphics, freehand drafting, and design coursework, along with studies in geology and historical geology. I also hold a South Carolina Landscape Design Certificate. These experiences have shaped the way I interpret space, visualize concepts, and approach design with both creativity and precision.

Before entering the swimming pool industry, I gained experience in marble and granite fabrication, cabinetry design, and custom stonework, including cantera stone, architectural moldings, and specialty stone details. This hands-on familiarity with materials, combined with my drafting experience, gives me an appreciation for the relationship between design, material selection, and the finished product. It also allows me to approach projects with a broader understanding of how different elements can work together, from custom pool features to outdoor kitchens and countertop designs.

One of my greatest strengths is seeing potential in simple spaces. I enjoy taking straightforward forms, such as concrete planes and geometric shapes, and transforming them through carefully planned separations, transitions, elevations, and layers of detail. What may begin as a simple layout can become an intricate, visually striking composition when every element is thoughtfully considered.

For me, great design is about more than appearance. Every line, measurement, designated area, and feature should have a reason for being there. The placement of elements, the distances between them, and the way spaces interact all contribute to the overall experience. I believe that even the simplest forms can become extraordinary when they are thoughtfully composed with intention, balance, and attention to detail.

My approach goes beyond aesthetics. I want each space to feel cohesive, function as intended, and reflect the individual needs of the people who will enjoy it. Whether I'm developing a complex geometric pool, defining separate outdoor living areas, or integrating an outdoor kitchen into a larger design, my goal is to create a unified environment in which every element contributes to the overall vision.

Collaboration is equally important to my process. Every client has a different lifestyle, vision, and set of priorities. By listening carefully, exchanging ideas, and incorporating client feedback throughout the design process, I work to create spaces that are tailored to each client's needs rather than simply repeating a standard design. I believe the strongest results come from combining creative exploration with thoughtful planning, technical precision, and open communication.
